What this edit history shows

The Wikipedia article on Genetically modified organism has been edited 5,483 times since it was created in 2001, by 2,421 distinct accounts and IP addresses. That averages about 218 recorded changes a year — a steady weekly rhythm rather than a constant one.

Within the revisions retrieved for this report, the ten busiest contributors account for about 61% of the changes. Editing that concentrated usually means a small group of regulars is doing the maintenance, which tends to produce consistent wording — and also means the page reflects a narrow set of contributors. In the same window, about 18% of the retrieved revisions came from bot accounts, which handle routine work such as link repair and reference formatting.

Within the retrieved window, 2019 carries the most recorded activity, with 189 changes. 15 of those revisions fall in the last 90 days. The most recent recorded edit was 31 days ago.

This report is built from the 500 most recent revisions retrieved from Wikipedia, about 9% of the 5,483 recorded edits. Figures drawn from that window describe the window only, and the report cannot establish why a change was made or whether it was correct. For older revisions, talk-page discussion and full context, follow the source history on Wikipedia.

AircornRemove empty section. Not enough material to warrant a whole heading
Jul 4, 2026
AircornI think what happened is that someone added a sub heading in the lead. That is why it is uncited and repetitive. The issue I have with bringing the GM food paragraph here is that organism covers much more than the food. Removed the sub heading and added back the original paragraph

RenaMoonnAdded a rudimentary section for Orchophytes with various sources to pull material from. Please don't shove this is some stupid "Protist" category. This is a distinct group that's socially and economically important enough to not do that. Also added an Archaea section but without any sources (they have been genetically modified though, different clades too)

RenaMoonnRearranged categories for better flow (plants, animals, fungi, bacteria, viruses) will add an archaea category and orchophyte (brown algae, diatoms, etc) category in the next edit
